While the team and manager take heat for this dismall playoff series (and righfully so) what about the fans' lack of support? They were a little better in Game 2 but as soon as Loney got the grand slam in Game 1 they just sat on their hands or prayed for the rest of the game. Wrigley Field was like a morgue! Cubs fans have been vocal all year and rallied behind the team to encourage comebacks but went silent when it counted.

Game 1 sucked the life out of the fans and game 2 didn't help. It's hard to blame the fans for not cheering. They didn't have much to cheer about.

What are they supposed to do?

"Loney Grand Slam! WHOOHOO! Gooooo CUBBIES!"

No all I'm saying is the fans need to get behind the team and encourage them. Just like they did against the Rockies and the Brewers and all the other times they came from behind to win!

Dude, the Cubs played like crap and the only time the fans had a chance to cheer was Dero 2-run shot and Z's first inning.

I would put it to you sir, that the crowd was mighty quiet in those games as well until the Cubs started showing some life. The Cubs looked like a dead corpse the entire series. I don't think the fans failing to manufacture phony cheering is what cost us this series, or even close.

Since the switch to 2-2-1, the team with HFA loses more serieses than they win.

Yep.

NLDS teams that had HFA (1998-2008): 9-13

NLCS teams that had HFA (1998-2007): 3-7

I don't even want to hear about the freaking fans. Jesus the excuses are in full force this Monday. This team choked, period. Let's stop blaming it on short series and fans not being involved enough.
