It just seems like it would be an insult to not have Z start Game 1, seeing as he is our "ace" and is being paid ace money.

Not saying that Harden wouldn't necessarily be better. I'm just thinking that Z would take it as a slap in the face.

Which the Cubs don't need in the playoffs. I'd be really surprised if Z didn't start game 1.

Four more innings until back-to-back NL Central titles...

I can remember where I was when we clinched in 1984, 1998 and 2003 but I don't remember 1989 or last year oddly enough. I do have a champagne cork here marked "Central Division Champs 2007 - 9/28/07" maybe that has something to do with it?

Ain't this a good problem to have? To have 4 guys who can make legitimate claims to start game 1 of the playoffs.

Nonetheless, IDC who starts Game 1, cause every game is important, and not one game is more important then the other. Whoever gets the call to start the playoffs is of no consequence to me, personally. because it is still just one game and you need the other three pitchers that are projected to go in the series--if needed--to pitch as good if not better than who starts Game 1.

Did anyone know this? Apparently this could be why Z struggled last time..found it on a board

His grandmother passed away and he spent 12 hours on a flight to Venezuela on Wed. and 12 more back last night.

I was going to post this, too. He flew down to Venezuela on Weds to be with his grandma. She passed away yesterday and he returned in time to pitch today. Round trip in 2.5 days. This was reported on Channel 5.

I think it was posted in another thread.

There have been a few stories on it.

Yeah, that was talked about during the post game interviews. Somehow I don't think 24 hours in first class is really all that tiring.

Yeah, I hear that. It would be tough to say it didn't have some effect on him.

It has to be said again.

There are a disappointing number of posts for a potential clinch thread.

I'm guessing a lot of people went down to Wrigley. That's where I'd be if I didn't have to be at a friends to pregame her birthday party tonight at 7. I know if I went down to Wrigley today, I wouldn't want to leave until sometime tomorrow afternoon.
