I think it may be time to re-institute a trade review system in this league. There seem to be a few "exclusive" negotiating trading partners and I don't like that.

I'm throwing this out there again since I seem to have missed people's attention span while being gone the past couple weeks. Here are my guys that are available and can help your teams:

The following players are first-round worthy and are available to those who have room under the limit:

Bay

Roberts

Felix

Lackey

These guys aren't first round worthy, but they're all points exempt:

Hermida

Verlander

Parra

Anibal Sanchez

Who would want Felix or Lackey when Sheets is available?

Okay, I'm done having fun with this.

If you're referring to me, I make deals with everyone in this league. Historically, I've made as many with you as I have with Matt. I've also made deals with Brian, Tim, Adam, Chuck, etc. I may just have an easier time getting ahold of someone like Matt since he's a friend of mine than others do since he doesn't post at NSBB..

That being said, I'd be fine with a "veto" type power, but only if majority veto's the trade and can support their reason for doing so with rational explanations.

I don't think my Howard/Kazmir for first and second round draft pick trade is absurd. If you can get 2 players of that calibur in the first and second round, what would be wrong at the end of the season with trading them for the draft picks?

The problem here is that only a select few people post on this board. Some sort of chat on the actual roadkill site may be more appealing to those that don't wish to visit NSBB to post messages.

I told you all (out of fairness) that the person doesn't post here. I'm sure he'd by far prefer a deal for one of those two guys.

right. except matt has not made as many deals with everyone else as he has with you.

really? you don't see the difference between trading draft picks for howard and having him count against your cap this year vs. taking him with the first round pick you traded and not having his points count against your cap?

you're literally losing nothing and gaining two very good draft picks. in my mind, if i trade fielder for a 1st rounder, i should probably be adding an exempt SP or something.

and i don't think you should be in this league if you don't post here. it's not like it's hard or something.

Adam is exactly right - its a question of leverage. It would be like the Cubs trying to trade Ryan Dempster right now. Why make a draft pick in October that counts against your cap? Why not just pick up the same talent in March? I, for one, am very sick of these kinds of deals that often exploit the weaker teams.

maybe there should be a cap on the amount of points you can trade after the season. that way you don't have people dumping 1,800 points on the rest of the league and walking away with four draft picks.

I'm confused. I was emailed by Justin asking if I'd be interested. He has access to post here and I know he reads the board. He's been asking for Howard for weeks. If I'm not going to be keeping Howard (I'd keep one of him or Morneau) then why the hell not trade him? I couldn't keep Kazmir either if I'm going to keep Halladay, which I'm going to do. He was the one who asked, as he has NO bats and NO pitching and had a 2nd first round pick. He stated to ME that he would rather have those two guys than anyone he could get with those picks in the first two rounds. Why the hell would I have to have a minor leaguer (my minors are full) when I can add 2 draft picks instead. People have traded draft picks all year, and nothing has ever been said. Mention: The PEAVY trade earlier this year with Fishbulb, when nobody else could even get him to talk to us, Juan sure was able to. That was the SAME sort of thing as Justin emailing me to ask if I'd be willing since he has nothing but exempt players on his team and had a TON of points room to where he could afford 2 draft picks for those guys. How the hell is that exploiting??????? He feels his team is better now than with using those 2 picks on people.

The peavy trade may have been the most exploiting a weak team trade all year.... Pot/Kettle!

MAKE HIM AN OFFER! I don't guess there's been any effort on your end.

You tell me how it's different. I traded him to a team that had around 1400 points in cap room and could take him on. It's happened for years where draft picks get traded in order to get under the point cap, and I don't know why it's such a big deal now.

you're literally losing nothing and gaining two very good draft picks. in my mind, if i trade fielder for a 1st rounder, i should probably be adding an exempt SP or something.

In your mind... not mine. If he had an exempt player he could have traded me that was worth Howard/Kazmir, I'd have done that + a draft pick as opposed to 2 draft picks. The thing is, his minor league guys SUCK BALLS. Read my earlier post in this thread where I mentioned wanting a Wieters type prospect and a draft pick.

The problem here is that only a select few people post on this board. Some sort of chat on the actual roadkill site may be more appealing to those that don't wish to visit NSBB to post messages.

Again... good luck enforcing that. We can't get guys to do their rosters every week, how the hell do you expect everyone to post here? Some people don't have the time to do it as much as others here do.

On a different note, why is J.T. Snow being added to the player pool?

Dusty Baker is still a major league manager. Hello! Duh!

The Peavy trade is a good point, except for the fact that Peavy's former owner is no longer with us.

Are there any NSBB members who are also Roadkill team owners who are not enjoying the league?

I realize that this league didn't originally come from NSBB, but it's sort of transformed into an NSBB league, and I don't think it's asking all that much to require people with teams to check in once a week on the Roadkill forum on NSBB.

If Roadkill had a better means of communication than NSBB, I could see just doing that. But, it doesn't. Many rules are only posted at NSBB. Many discussions on how to better the league are only posted at NSBB.

If everyone kept up withe rules and joined in on discussions, I think it would be more fun for everyone. And maybe I'd stop getting frustrated when I see people like Miguel Montero listed as a minor leaguer when he's burned two years of eligibility.

The only problem I see is that it's hard enough to get everyone to update their teams weekly, let alone those that can't join discussion. As for people like Matt, he's always stayed active, setting his team every week, but just has no interest in a message board. He does communicate in the weekly chat though.

I think one thing that would improve the league is if everyone had the same IM service. I have 4-5 messengers downloaded that I only use to talk to fellow managers in Roadkill.

That being said. I use MSN (Windows Live) Messenger the most, I have Matt as a contact and I don't know that I've ever actually talked to him. I just send him an IM and hope he responds via CBS which he has a couple times.

I would like to see an agreement on a IM service that allows IM, voice chat, etc.

That's another way we can communicate, but it doesn't resolve the issue of the Roadkill rules being posted in the Roadkill forum on NSBB.

the peavy trade is not remotely close to this situation. come on. peavy was traded in like june. you're trading guys you can't/won't keep for draft picks. you're literally losing nothing.

just make people register and post here. if they refuse to, then they don't have to be in the league. communicating through the RK site is fine too, i suppose, but [expletive] just sits there for weeks w/o response.

What are you talking about? I never mentioned your trade. If the three of you want out, let me know.

Make a web page with the rules?!?! Where should the rules be?

The rules should be here since Roadkill has morphed into mostly an NSBB member league. You can sticky all the rules and then you can discuss important procedures, policies, timelines, etc.. in the discussion forum. Part of playing fantasy baseball is interacting with the other league managers, IMO.

We're not asking anyone to become a Cub fan and post in Baseball Discussion or Cubs game threads. Just be a member and check into the Roadkill forum.

Does anyone know what's up with Chris? If he doesn't have time to deal with his team, we might need a new owner for his team, too.
