With the Brewers' bullpen, something tells me this game's going to be out of reach for the Brewers in the near future.

The Brewers have a better bullpen ERA than the CUbs.

I wonder how much lower the Cubs' bullpen ERA would be if Lou didn't insist on trotting Howry out there all the time.

What's the magic number right now? (for the division)

11 going into today.

I posted this in the Ike thread but it didn't get much attention... it looks like, if there's a silver lining in all this, we can get better pitching match-ups set up for the Brewers series now, assuming that a game(s) aren't played Monday, either.

Plus, a few more days for Z shouldn't hurt, as most of us wanted him to miss more than one start.

I actually don't want the Brewers free-fall to continue. All things staying the same, I'd much rather face the Dodgers than the Phillies in the first round.

I'm definitely pulling for the Brewers to win one of two tomorrow.

The Phillies scare me only a little less than Arizona does.

I want:

East: Mets

Central: Cubs

West: Dodgers

WC: Astros or Brewers (I want a central team to win so the Cubs face the Dodgers)

The Mets might still be a possibility to face as well. They have the same record as the Brewers (although they've played 2 less games) since they just lost in game 1 of their DH. They're only 2 games ahead of the Phillies, and they still have to face the Cubs 4 times.

Crazy play in NY:

1st and 2nd. 1 out. Cliff Floyd lines one about two inches off the ground and Jeter knocks it down. The runners assumed he caught the liner so Iwamura was trying to get back to 2nd. The throw beat him but the 2nd baseman tagged him after he reached the bag. So, the outcome was that Iwamura was safe, the runner on 1st was out and Floyd was safe at 1st.

Surely Zona is done now.

I would prefer the Brewers just lose every game and we wrap up the division with about 6 games left in the season.

We'd wrap it up much sooner than that if they lose every game, especially when you consider that 3 of those games are against the Cubs....

Well, I was thinking that the Astros might pass them if the Brewers went on a long losing streak. But if not, wrapping it up sooner would be fine with me as well. Get Marshall and maybe Wells a start once clinched and give Harden and Z a few extra days before their playoff starts.

Dusty just brought in a rookie to make his Major League debut with 2 outs and the bases loaded in a 7th inning tie. Of course he hit Adam Dunn to force in a run. The Cinci announcers were questioning the move.

And Arizona just keeps getting the knife twisted in them in worse and worse ways as the days go on.

First they blow the save thanks to a sac fly by Corey Patterson in the 9th.

Then in the 10th, the Reds have taken the lead. Thanks to who else-a Micah Owings pinch-hit RBI double. As much as I don't want Arizona to make the playoffs, this is just being too cruel.
