Four Cubs to Hawaii per ITI:

2B Tony Thomas (Daytona)

3B Marquez Smith (Daytona)

LHP Jeremy Papelbon (Iowa; spent the whole regular season with Daytona)

RHP Blake Parker (Daytona)

I was hoping Drew Rundle or Cliff Andersen would go. Oh well, good to see the Cubs sending 4 guys this year after only 2 last year. Last year the Cubs sent Nate Samson and Ryan Harvey and when Harvey got hurt, Kyler Burke. In 2006, the Cubs sent Scott Koerber.

It would be really cool if Marquez Smith was working on his second base play but I doubt it with Tony Thomas around.

HWB starts its season on Sept. 27th.

Official HWB rosters are out for all 4 teams: link.

Looks like all 4 Cub prospects will be on the Waikiki Beachboys.

What's that funny looking thing beside the ER on Papelbon's stat line?

First time he's given up ERs since July, no?

I'm not sure which one to post this in, so I just picked this one.

Arizona is considered a hitter's league, correct? How about Hawaii and Venezuela?

Part of the reason the AFL is considered a hitter's league is because not too many great pitching prospects get sent there to protect their arms. The same is the case for the HWB so I imagine it's more of a hitter's league.

Thus far this year, the HWB has a 4.85 league-wide ERA, the AFL has a 4.55 league-wide ERA.

It's tougher to gauge the foreign winter leagues because veteran players come and go but good pitchers are protected there too.

I see, thanks. I'm just starting to follow the minor leagues and stuff, so was wondering what perspective I should put on the numbers you are posting.
