This was a total Cub performance for the Reds today. Score 3 early, blow several opportunities to score more, and then blow it late in the game.

Not to mention 2 unearned runs allowed.

Do the Reds really not have anyone better than David Weathers for the 8th?

Oh well, they took 2 of 3.

actually they probably didn't, but i think that a LHP against prince fielder would be a better option than david weathers. i'll take 2 out of 3 by dusty baker's reds, too.

Well... we can make it 5 by winning the next two and then hope to tack maybe one on before they come into town next week.

I don't like the pitching matchups at all for that friggin series, though. Wow.

4 game series at Philly tomorrow, and off day Monday.

I really wish there weren't so many teams in the wild card race, because now we have more teams than the Phillies to worry about.

Actually, both the Cubs and the fans only have one team to worry about, and that's the Cubs. If the Cubs play as well as they can and should, there's no need to worry about any other team, as the Cubs will eliminate them all by themselves.

now there standing in milwaukee... Good chance we will be up only 3.5 at the end of the day..

how many times has the number 3.5 appeared on this board since yesterday when pujols hit his home run? i'm gonna say 1,248.

Well this time, the Brewers have already won, and the Cubs have to actually do the same, and in case you havnt noticed, that hasnt exactly been their thing lately.

Just win and they have to worry about us.

I believe we have Lilly, Harden, and Marquis lined up for the Milwaukee series.

That doesn't look good at all, but who knows.

And yet, that means little to nothing in terms of their chances to win tonight.

We're not a .200 ballclub, people.

If we were a .200 ballclub, that would mean we should be winning this one.

Is Votto considered a rookie this year? If so, his numbers aren't all that worse than Soto's. If had a huge September.....nah. I bet Soto's VORP and WARP are much better, even though writers won't use that argument.

Just painful for Diamondback fans now. 2 straight games where they score 2 runs in the 9th to tie or to take the lead only to lose the game in the bottom of the 9th.

This time..they had an 0-2 count with 2 outs before giving up the game winning triple. Ouch.

And the Brewers will have Sheets and Sabathia going.

On the plus side, though, with Sabathia pitching today, that means that he misses the Philly series. I'd obviously rather have him miss the Cubs, but hopefully Philly can take 3 of 4 in the series.

After beating the Dodgers on Aug. 29, the Diamondbacks were 4.5 games up in the division. 12 days and 11 games later (10 for the Dodgers), and Arizona is 3 back pending tonight's game. That's a for sure 7 game swing, 8 if LA wins tonight, in 12 days.

And it's nightmarish loss after nightmarish loss too. Today the GW triple was on an 0-2 fastball. Whoops
