because i don't want to work, this is how it plays out if there are no changes:

9/9 @ STL: Dempster

9/10 @ STL: Lilly

9/11 @ STL: Harden

9/12 @ HOU: Marquis

9/13 @ HOU: Zambrano

9/14 @ HOU: Dempster

9/16 v. MIL: Lilly

9/17 v. MIL: Harden

9/18 v. MIL: Marquis

9/19 v. STL: Zambrano

9/20 v. STL: Dempster

9/21 v. STL: Lilly

9/22 @ NYM: Harden

9/23 @ NYM: Marquis

9/24 @ MYM: Zambrano

9/25 @ NYM: Dempster

9/26 @ MIL: Lilly

9/27 @ MIL: Harden

9/28 @ MIL: Marquis

I have to believe if the Cubs have the division won before the 9/27 game, Harden gets held back for the playoffs and starts game 2 or 3.

I think, at the very least, another spot start for Marshall against Houston so they can throw Dempster, Lilly and Harden against Mil. is pretty smart and hopefully likely. 9/13 and then Zambrano on 9/14 makes sense in a lot of ways.

Lilly twice against Milwaukee?

I did read in the Trib today that Lou had set Z, Dempster, and Lilly as his 1-3 in the NLDS. I almost fell off my chair when I read that. Lilly is garbage, and he always has been. I wouldn't trust him in the playoffs at all, and if everyone is healthy, Loue would have to be out of his mind to stick Lilly in the 3 spot. You just never know if he's gonna throw scoreless ball or get shelled... way too unpredictable.

Is there anyone else out there who thinks Marquis is better than Lilly? I've thought so for a long time now.

Oh god I hope not. Having Marquis/Lilly get 4 of the remaining 6 games against Milwuakee would be beyond stupid.

I didn't even realize until just now how close the Brewers series is.

So he sat down, mapped out the rotation, and he chooses to Have Lilly, Harden (hopefully), and Marquis go in what will be the most important series of the season so far? What the hell is that?

Meanwhile, the Brewers rotation is set so Sabathia and Sheets will go in the first 2 games.

Good job, Lou.

Lilly:

2008 - 102 ERA+, 1.31 WHIP, 161:60 K:BB

Career - 102 ERA+, 1.33 WHIP, 1134:497 K:BB

Marquis:

2008 - 103 ERA+, 1.39 WHIP, 84:60 K:BB

Career - 97 ERA+, 1.41 WHIP, 745:488 K:BB

They're very similar pitchers this year (though Marquis has been mediocre throughout and Lilly was terrible early and much better after that) but for their careers, Lilly is definitely better.

Not a huge difference between them, but Lilly is better.

I think this is crap. We shouldn't be thinking of the playoffs right now with the way we're playing.

What should we be thinking about?

AVOIDING THE OTHER SHOE

Harden isn't going tonight...

At least, not as far as I know... I'm pretty sure it's Lilly tonight and Harden tomorrow, unless you heard some breaking news that I haven't.
