Versteeg scores...burying the Flames early in the 3rd. Very good passing play to set that up, I think Kane made the pass that set it up, but Toews's hard work set up the whole play. great goal. 5-1.

Stupid fight.

Mikka is just overwhelmed tonight. These guys look fantastic.

One thing though. Toews and Kane seem to be getting roughed up a bit around the net after whistles and I don't see much in the way of help or retribution from the big guys. I'd like to see a bit more of that.

i think the Hawks are just playing a physical game period, i don't know what you really can expect after that. they've clearly controlled the game in every aspect tonight, and have thrown some punishing hits to go with it.

I bet as much as me, you can't wait til Aliu gets his 10 game stint ;)

Right there was a perfect example. Sarich nailed Sharp, arm goes up, whistle blows. Havlat strolls around like nothing happened. Brouwer finally came in to give him the business, but it was half-hearted.

But hey, I know I'm nit-picking.

havlat has never been the kind of guy to step up physically unless he's kicking someone, so i think the expectation of him to do that is too much (which really is an indictment on havlat -- i love his skill but he's certainly not a player i would want on my team if i were building one). i thought brouwer did fine. it wasn't an insanely dirty hit, but it drew a response. olczyck pointed it, but the dmen came in too. plus walker ended up hitting iginlar hard like a shift or two later.

Walker and Prust fight...endurance test, lol. Edge to Walker.

Yeah, in boxing parlance, Walker was busier. So he won that one.

Entertaining game.

I hope the Hawks have enjoyed all this time off because starting Wednesday they have 6 in 11 days, including the start of the annual circus trip. The trip doesn't seem that bad this year, but it does go to Phoenix, then Dallas, then back to Toronto, then all the way back to the west coast for games at San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles. The eight-game trip at the end of January and start of February is much worse.

Not to look too far ahead, but I love the Hawks banking all these points now before they hit the road. Hopefully they can keep it up through these next few home games.

They are just [expletive] good @ home. Foley said last night that the Hawks haven't lost a game since March of last year at home (in regulation). Too lazy to look it up but was the final game against the Wings at home or on the road?

4-2 loss vs. Calgary on March 16 was the last regulation loss for the Hawks at home.

Now, I haven't been to the UC for a game in almost seven years now, so I'm sure others can answer this better than me. Is it a raucous type crowd when the place is full? Because we know all of this season's home games have been sold out so far, and most at the end of last season were as well. I just wonder if it's the type of atmosphere and really gets the players going. I know the building is huge. Just don't remember how loud it gets.
