I don't have a subscription to BP but it looks like Josh Vitters made BP's Monday Ten Pack. He certainly has his pic on their main page.

It seems like half of Boise's lineup were candidates for the NWL player of the week:

MiLB.com[/url]"]Northwest League Player of the Week

Ryan Keedy, Boise

.577 (15-26), 6 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 3 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, .808 SLG

An 0-for-4 outing on July 25 dropped Ryan Keedy's batting average to .310. His slugging percentage was lower than his on-base percentage. Keedy was having a good season, but more than a week later, it certainly doesn't look like much compared to his current .371 average. Keedy has hit safely in each of his eight games since then. In fact, he's reached base at least twice in all of them. He hit his second home run of the season on Tuesday, a game sandwiched between two four-hit outings and the first baseman now has an RBI in seven straight games.

Former Cub farmhand Luis Montanez got the nod for the Eastern League, where's he's been ridiculously hot.

Josh Vitters, 3B, Short-Season Boise (Cubs)

A 6-for-51 pro debut and an injury-plagued first half of the season had many Cubs fans wondering if the team had made some kind of mistake with the third overall pick last year. Rest assured, they didn't. The top pure hitter in last year's draft is finally healthy, and has finally found his grove in the Northwest League, extending his current hitting streak to 11 games and upping his season averages to .336/.373/.517. Vitters has remarkable bat speed combined with amazing hand-eye coordination, the kind of combination that drew a few Howie Kendrick comparisons prior to the draft. Now the numbers finally match those comps.

kendrick is a great hitter for average, but i'd like to see more power and patience than he offers. he has 27 walks in 226 games, which is pretty damn bad.

Thanks, guys.

Based on the scouting reports, Vitters should hit for more power than Kendrick. Vitters has him beat in the power department at this point in their careers: Howie's power in his age 18 season in the AZL (.090 IsoP) and age 19 season in the rookie Pioneer League (.149 IsoP) while Vitters is at .185 IsoP at age 18 in the NWL and MWL. Kendrick did have better plate discipline back then, though.

Vitters could be one special player. I don't remember who it was, but one comparison was to a RH version of Joe Mauer, with 25 HR+ power. Now THAT, is a #3 hitter.

Marcos Mateo, not Rich Hill, is getting the start for Daytona.

Either MiLB.com is wrong or Darwin Barney is starting at LF and Ryan Harvey is starting at SS. :-s

wow wow....Lets just hope he can be a major league regular.....To many cub high draft picks didn't even make it to the show...Cpatt would be a successful cub pick based on how we have drafted.

Only 3 pitchers - Jeff Beliveau, Mark Pawelek and Mike Perconte - are available to pitch for Boise.

Okay, I know he's a long ways a way, but he's got more potential than probably any pick we've had in the past 10 years, as far as hitters go. Harvey and Dope were HUGE power threats, but weren't real hitters at any point. Vitters is a real hitter with power potential.

And now Vitters walks.

he must've seen my post about wanting more power and patience than hendrick.

Get to work on the rest of the farm, damnit.
