His FB is down in velocity (and doesn't have much movement). His slider has sucked ever since he came to the Cubs. He hasn't rebounded from injury when he was still at Notre Dame.

FSL games in July and August suck. Between that and Aprils in the MWL which could hurt who knows how many arms, the Cubs have some major weather issues to deal with on the farm.

No more drafting from Notre Dame imo. (ok this has a little to do with the fact that I hate the place)

Heh...although Samardzija has apparently turned into a stud prospect.

Well, our opinions are turning around to the positive on our biggest investment into a Notre Dame product lately. But this one I think the Cubs have developed more than their program did.

Wasn't Johnson given a bigger contract than Samardzija since he was a first round pick? Not that it means much.

Johnson was a second rounder, he was the first pick for the Cubs that year (thank LaTroy Hawkins). Samardzija signed a new contract the spring after he was drafted that could net him $10 million if he sticks with baseball. Much, much more than Johnson got.

Easily a record for you for most posts in a day since like 2005, eh?

By the way, Tennessee faces David Price today and Jeremy Hellickson tomorrow.

Rebel Ridling with a 2-run HR for Peoria as they lead 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th. Santana through 4: 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K.

Flaherty back in Boise's lineup. Vitters isn't. At this point, you can't call it a minor ankle injury.

Tennessee managed 3 runs (2 earned) off Price. Got 7 hits and 2 walks and only struck out 6 times. Tennessee won it 4-3 in 10. Colvin was 2 for 4 with a walk and strike out.

Boise killing Everett today. 9-2 after 4. Rundle is 1 for 1 with a double and walk and he was just PH for. Burke is 2 for 3 with a double. Ryan Flaherty is 1 for 1 with a double and 2 walks.

Coleman: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 9 GO-2 FO.

Ryan Flaherty has made two bad plays out of three...was in poor position and misplayed a ball - it was ruled a single but should have been an E-6. Two batters later, he had a ground ball to him and instead of getting the force at first, he stupidly went for the lead runner at third base who beat the tag. 3 "earned" runs have scored against Coleman in the 5th, I doubt any of them should actually be earned.

4.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K w/ 2 runners on base for Coleman. Sucks for his ERA since Flaherty made two bad plays that should have been outs.

Chris Carpenter has come in to relieve Coleman. The announcers thought it was Bristow, apparently they look alike.

Everett has committed 3 errors thus far in the 6th inning. They've scored 7 so far and it's now 16-5. And there is still NO ONE OUT in the inning. This is just UGLY.

First time I've watched Carpenter pitch and I'm impressed. His stuff looks good. 3 Ks in 2.2, 4-1 GO-FO. His FB looks nice.

Burke with a 4 hit game.

It's a bit too early to look that far out, but Peoria's rotation could be interesting next year. Probably will see Carpenter, Coleman and Bristow. Maybe Tolentino or Suarez or Cabrera or Ryan Acosta? And hopefully Rhee by August.

Pina, Jackson, and (hopefully not) Hernandez might be in that mix coming from the other point of view as well.

I figure those three would be in Daytona (along with Aaron Shafer and Kevin Kreier?). Hopefully Robert can get it together and graduate to Daytona next season.

Of course there will be injuries, ineffectiveness and whatnot but it looks interesting right now.

3.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 4 GO-3 FO for Carpenter. Great second outing at Boise.

Pawelek now in to try to get the final 3 outs and preserve an 11-run lead.

How bout not drafting guys who off of TJ surgery who's was just OK at best even when he was healthy.
