Hey all,

My wife and I are going to be in town for our 10 year anniversary celebration and would love to catch a game on August 1 or 2 against the Pirates, but am having problems getting tickets. Any ideas?

I know of stubhub - they are all 3x face value, is this what I am to expect? Can you get them day of game outside the stadium, I remember a thread on that one time, but could not find it. Anyone wanting to get rid of tickets for that day?

thanks

Unfortunately I don't think you're going to be in much luck. You could always go early and try to grab some SRO, but I think you're stuck with the secondary market.

i've had much better luck with ebay, pricewise. i still paid close to 2X face for bleacher seats, but the prices were the best I could find.

please excuse my ignorance, but this whole thing of "print tickets at home", how reliable is it?

thanks to the other posters, I know I am open to the secondary market, has anyone bought them off the street on the day of game and who can you trust? Is it legal?

They are as reliable as the source.

Whoever has the print at home email can print off dozens of copies and sell them all if they please. It is entirely a judgement call on who you should buy them from (Brokers, Ebay, Stubhub yes.....Scalpers on the street, no)

I've had success getting tickets for face value, sometimes even slightly below face, by waiting until the 2nd inning to see a scalper or broker. At that point, they've already made their money, and they'll take just about anything just to get the tickets off their hands. You won't get bleachers that way, but just about anything else can be had.

If you're talking about print at home tickets through StubHub, they're 100% secure. From what I've read, when someone sells electronic tickets through StubHub, the Cubs will cancel the original barcode and generate a new one that is delivered through StubHub.

I've bought tickets a couple of times from legit sellers before game days. Legit meaning the guys who have officers/right off the el. Again, wait til gametime for prices to come down, and make sure you have the right game before leaving.

Jon: I think they only do that if it is a season ticket holder selling the tickets. If it was a normal joe that bought tickets and selected Ticketfast, they can easily print off extra copies and send whatever copy they want in the fedex envelope.

Actually, this is what I was referring to:

Q: What's different about confirming orders for MLB tickets?

A: You'll enter the barcodes for each ticket when you confirm the order and the buyer will receive their tickets by eDelivery. That means there's nothing for you to ship. When you enter the barcodes and confirm the order, the barcodes will be validated by the team and cancelled. Then, the team will generate new tickets with new barcodes and electronically deliver them to the buyer.

That's for sellers without team accounts (season ticket accounts). Those with team accounts do the same, except their tickets are available for instant eDelivery within 10 minutes.
