Why don't they just trade him if they can't afford to pay him? They could get buco solid prospects for the kid, and those prospects wouldn't be all that expensive.

At some point they've got to do something with him, right? It's either up or out.

:?

Why did you call him out for his misspell of the word "buco", but not SSR for his of "perogative"? Inconsistent.

He obviously doesn't know how to correctly spell "perogative".

Debunking some previous rumors of a possible promotion, manager Ron Gardenhire announced Friday that Francisco Liriano will start Sunday for Triple-A Rochester.

Liriano is, of course, 9-0 at Triple-A and really has nothing left to prove in the minors. He has a 0.29 ERA with 42 strikeouts in his last five starts. Yet, the Twins are hesitant to give up on Livan Hernandez, or any other pitcher for that matter.

The way they're declawing Delmon Young is just as absurd. An organizational philosophy that insists contact is superior to power? Minnesota's going to keep pissing around and find themselves looking up at KC.

Jul 31 Liriano won't make his scheduled start for Triple-A Rochester on Friday, fueling speculation that he's on his way up to Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Recommendation: This only adds to the notion that Liriano is about to replace Livan Hernandez in the rotation.

That would be fantastic

(a) they're a small market team that consistently contends for division titles - hardly what you'd call the dumbest organization in their division, let alone all of professional sports.

(b) i'm pretty sure they kept him in the minors to keep his service time low - that way he won't be arbitration-eligible until after next season.

he pitched a good game, but like i said, there were financial reasons behind the Twins' decision to leave him in the minors. You could also call Tampa Bay idiots for keeping Evan Longoria at AAA to start the year.

the point is, it's ridiculous to suggest that a small-market team that regularly contends for division titles is the dumbest organization in pro sports when you have the baltimore orioles, atlanta hawks, l.a. clippers, minnesota timberwolves, houston texas, arizona cardinals, atlanta falcons, new york islanders, columbus blue jackets, and plenty more terribly-run organizations that rarely do anything right.

it was hyperbole, yes, but an organization that trades Santana for pennies on the dollar and then won't call up arguably the best pitcher in the division is not smart

Because those two decisions outweight everything else right?

Since '01 they've had a winning season every year but last. This will be their 7th out of 8. They've also won 90+ four times and are on pace to do it again this year. Their highest payroll in that span was $71M and they've been under $60M in 6/8 years including '08.

Clearly they're incompetent.

so if you've built a perennial contender, why sell off your Cy Young caliber ace during the off season for pennies on the dollar? If you're determined to trade him before he reaches free agency, fine, see where you are come trade deadline time.

overall, the organization has done a very good job with the resources they have (especially considering they were lobbying for contraction not too long ago). but the decision making in the past year has been very suspect. Keeping Santana coupled with not burying Liriano in the minors would probably have netted them a near double digit lead in the division right now. don't get me started on how they've ruined Delmon Young
