It doesn't seem like anything to worry about for those outside of the Chicago market. 2020 is a long way away and the broadcast technology available then will likely make such a channel accessible to anyone.

Being outside the Chicagoland area and only getting games WGN carries now and in light of last Saturday's game (blackout fiasco) I would gladly spend 12 bucks

My guess is such a channel would be picked up on DirectTV's sports tier, so I'd love that.

 

I already have EI, so extra Cubs games aren't a need for me personally, but I think it would be awesome.
