After the first batter Gaudin has pitched pretty well. (I should probably not say that because he might pitch the 9th)

nah they will hit for him; he's due up second.

 

but it was a pretty solid outing, aside from the meatball to ross.

I'm not saying Fontenot should have been safe, but this brings up a point I've always wondered about... how many times have the SS or 2B caught the flip after they've already crossed the bag but the ump calls the force out anyway at the start of GIDPs??

 

Sometimes they look so fast, it makes you wonder if they were toeing the bag as they caught the flip/toss or not.

It's probably like the in the neighborhood play at second on a double play
