Yes, I know this has been brought up ad nauseum, but how much affect do they really have on what we perceive to actually be the strike zone when watching on TV?

Last night's game was entirely frustrating to watch because of the way the strike zone was being called and I'm not sure if the ump was really that horrible or if he just had a big corner on one side of the plate. The RH batters box strike zone seemed to be gigantic and got bigger as the game went on. Marquis either wasn't getting the same calls or was just unable to take advantage of it.

the camera angles always screw up your perception of the outside corner

I really like the dead-center view some of the FSN's are switching to, as they make it much easier get an idea of the sides of the plate.

On a somewhat related note, it always cracks me up when you're at a game and people who are 200 feet away from home plate are bitching about a bad call.

i also like the one from directly behind the pitcher but a little higher up. it's easier to tell if a pitch is high/low than it is to tell outside/inside, and i think guys get rung up a lot more frequently on pitches that are marginal on either side of the plate than whether they should've been called high/low. plus nobody knows what the high end of the strike zone is anyway.
