And his name is Donnie Veal. (Since the original post, Nate Spears, Mitch Atkins and Doug Deeds have been added to the roster.)

And by now, I'm sure everyone has heard that Welington Castillo will be the Cubs' lone representative at the Futures Game.

I don't follow the minors as closely as many here... is Veal still considered a legit prospect? I had heard a lot of doubts that he can make it as a starting pitcher.

2008 - 2.67

K/9
2005 - 10.55
2006 - 10.15
2008 - 7.39

BB/9
2005 - 4.66
2006 - 4.78
2008 - 4.46

H/9
2005 - 5.59
2006 - 5.25
2008 - 7.77

HR/9
2005 - 0.62
2006 - 0.41
2008 - 0.76

If Veal had been injured and missed all of 2007, we would still be pretty stoked to see this guy coming up the ladder. Hopefully, it just took him a bit longer than most to adjust to the more advanced hitting, and we'll be seeing him continue to improve. I'm still pretty high on him, though I don't doubt that Hendry and co will probably end up throwing him in the pen if he stumbles again.

Add 2B Nate Spears to SL North team, I guess there was an injury or promotion.

It's pretty amazing that Veal has as respectable an ERA as he does, at only 3.33. Not often that a guy with a WHIP of 1.5 and such a high HR-rate (11 HR/100 innings) can keep his ERA below 4, especially with a now rather mediocre K-rate besides.

And for the third straight day, someone from Tennessee has been added to the SL North all-star team.

Add 1B Doug Deeds.

Whenever I see his name in the box score, I think of Dirty Deeds by AC/DC. Is that the song they play when he comes to bat?

I remember that song (I believe the full name is Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap). I'm not an AC/DC fan (I'm not into heavy metal), but I did like that song.

Since the game is being played at Carolina there was a fair amount of coverage in the Raleigh newspaper today. One thing mentioned in one of the articles is that they are considering moving the game to the break between the first and second half of the season, rather than coinciding with the MLB break, in the future. This is mainly so that player could play in both the All-Star Game and the Futures Game.

I'm crossing my fingers for the weather. The last forecast I heard sounded like it could be rather stormy tomorrow. Truffle, help! :D
