Well, for those who want a report on the Smokies, here is an abridged version.

Veal didn't look good at all. He walked the first hitter he faced, but picked him off by showing a nice move to first.

In the second the wheels fell off. He made an error to let the first batter advance all the way to second. Then he struggled to find the plate, worked behind most of the night, and got hit pretty hard. When he left in the third, the bases were loaded and no body was out. Roquet came in and limited the damage.

Veal's FB sat between 85-87mph, though I think the Braves have a slow gun. His curveball was good, but he didn't use it that much. Probably because he was always down 2-0 to most hitters.

Colvin had a bad first AB, but did show some selectivity in his other AB's. He just didn't have much to show for it. Fox seemed to have the hardest luck of the Smokies. He had some very deep AB's where he fouled off a number of pitches, but he never could come away with anything. In one of his later AB, he hit a shot that went as high as it went far and ended up being caught on the warning track.

Unfortunately, I really wasn't that impressed with any of the Smokies hitters. It could have been a bad night, but they were facing Parr. I've seen Parr pitch before and he's not impressive. He's not horrible, but he isn't a pitcher that should have shut a team down like he did for most of the game.

I really felt sorry for Donnie because his grandmother was there to watch him pitch.

I'm not going back tomorrow, but I do plan to be there Friday when Shark takes the hill. Don't expect much in the way of a report as Addison is going with daddy to that game.

A little more on the Iowa game. Hill hit Josh Phelps in the knee and it sounded sick.

Jason Dubois is still a physical specimen and still cannot hit a curve ball.

Matt Murton did a great job coaching 1st base.
