It pisses me off that we lose alot of games like this..Games that should be won and we lose them by stupid fundemental mistakes. I can take a straight loss where you tip your cap to the other team because they were better. But we lose ones like the Pittsburgh series and this one where the game is in our hands and in control and we find some stupid way to blow it

I dunno ... Cubs just got plain beat yesterday. That was pretty painful.

Exactly.

Texas A&M just lost to Rice 9-7 in the Super Regionals and the Cubs have given this one away. What a crappy baseball afternoon for me.

I know it doesn't matter when the other team has 7 runs, our run production has been fairly disappointing, IMO, against these Dodgers. Maybe their pitching has really found a way against us, but we just can't find a way to score more than 3 runs against these guys

I just turned the game on, why did Lou leave Z out there that long in the 7th inning? That seemed to be asking for trouble

Because for the most part he was pitching good and his defense completely crapped all over him.

Even so, I think I would pull a pitcher who when two runs were already in and they had 2 base runners

But it really wasn't Z's fault. The defense was ridiculously bad. We gave them 6 outs. I could have seen pulling him, but I could also see leaving him in. I think if our starters went 7+ the last few games then Lou would have pulled Z, but with our starters not lasting long lately (or really all season) Lou was trying to get the SP through 7 at least. I'm not one for second guessing and at the time I probably would have agreed with Lou to keep him in.

with derrek lee struggling this bad, its hard for our offense to really bust out. solution, derrek lee pull his head out of his ass.

That's why I'm always in favor of calling for sac bunts in the early stages of a game.

I just hope this game doesn't have any longterm negative repercussions on the team.

Just like the games in Pittsburgh?

I'd rather just get plain beat than give a game away like we did today. It's easier to accept a loss if the other team simply outplayed you. It's another thing entirely if you wrapped the game up in a pretty box and handed it to them.
