I find it hard to believe that there has been a more dominating pitching performance in all of major league history.

Sadly, I remember that game like it was yesterday. That was the summer before my wife and I got married. Her first ever ball game was one in Houston that Kerry pitched. That was a fun year all around.

These highlights, in particular, really make one question whether the rising fastball is really a myth.

You'd swear half those fastball punchouts were moving UP.

I'm almost positive that game gets the highest game score ever according to Bill James' Game Scores, and that's without factoring in that the Gutierrez single could/should have been ruled an error.

My brother was in school out of state at the time, but got the Tribune delivered to his dorm. Since he was studying for finals he didn't get a chance to watch SportsCenter at night to see what happened. The next morning he was expecting the cover of the sports section would have coverage of the Bulls playoff loss to the Hornets. When he instead saw the 20Ks listing down the front page all the way to Kerry's name, he spat up a mouthful of cereal and milk over the cover of the newspaper.

That cover is now framed in his house.

Wow, I never watched that live or seen the highlights of every K. But he looked so nasty in that. Some of his pitches just.. my god.

Yeah, so the next time you think about writing about how we get all the breaks, think about how we had that and Mark Prior, who was better, and they both got hurt.

You really won't let that go will you? I never said you guys are catching all the breaks. And if I did I explained what I meant. My god let it go.

It's all in fun, but it is depressing to think about what great pitching we had. Especially when we have the rotation we have now.

The Guttierez error actually allowed the 20th K though.

This is very true. But i'd be okay with a 19K perfect game, too.

Ok I thought you were being serious about everything. MY BAD!. But yeah, I think 2003 proved if Wood and Prior would of stayed healthy what could of been.

Na, I am just trying to have fun with you. Yeah we should have been set up for the next 15 years.

I love Bagwell's knees on #7.

And the way he's four steps to the dugout by the time the ump finishes the strike three punch.

I've always been a Cubs fan, but that was the day that marked the beginning of my current level of obsession. I never got home from school until after 4, so when I turned on the tv hoping to catch the 9th inning (and having no idea what had been going on to that point), I saw them interviewing that new pitcher. When Chip said something about 15 Ks thru seven, I'm pretty sure I needed clean shorts.
