Sean Gallagher couldn't wait to reach the Iowa Cubs' clubhouse Tuesday afternoon.

He needed to watch television - the final five innings of the Chicago Cubs-Mets game at Wrigley Field.

"I'm down here pitching at Iowa, and they're up there in Chicago, but really, we're all in this together," Gallagher said after pitching Iowa out of a three-game losing streak with a 5-1 win against Oklahoma before an announced crowd of 5,057 at Principal Park.

"I'm buddies with some of the guys up there. We text message back and forth, and I'm happy for them the way they're playing."

"I can't wait to get in there and watch the rest of the Chicago game," he said while walking to the clubhouse. "If they need me someday, that's fine, but they're pitching great right now and for that, I'm happy.

"I think it's a better option for them that I'm down here doing what I'm doing.

"If someone does go down, which I always hope never happens, I feel I'm ready to go up there and help if I'm the one they decide to call."

That's a great attitude by Sean. I hope we hang on to him. I think he can be an anchor in the middle of the rotation for years to come. Plus, his attitude makes him an easy player to like.
