I really think Len and Bob are being a bit ridiculous. I seriously doubt Derrek Lee is out for any reason other than that we're clearly going to win and he could use a break.

It wasn't a clear win. A 6 run game, with Jason Marquis on the mound, no Carlos Marmol, and in a park where the ball been flying out lately... it wasn't in the books just yet.

He left with an undisclosed injuyr by the way, so Len and Bob weren't so out of the line now were they?

I think you are going to have a hard time finding more than a select few people who are rooting for Theriot to fail. WE all want the Cubs to win, and some of us feel Cedeno gives us a better chance at that.

I understand that, and I have no problem with it whatsoever. Personally, I believe that, over the long haul, Cedeno would be an improvement, too.

HOWEVER

Theriot has not in any way hurt the Cubs chances to win thus far this season, and yet many people will not let a Theriot at bat (or defensive play, or quote in the paper) go by without making a stupid "grit" joke, or talking about how he's a "black hole," or making Neifi Perez comparisons.

So many people rightly want to call out stupid broadcasters, media people, etc., for perpetuating ignorant stereotypes about players like Hill, Pie, etc. I just wish some of them would take their own advice and let the numbers be their guide, not try to guide the numbers with the same arrogance the ignorant media people do.

I just checked in and saw Lee was out..tell me there isn't anything bad going on with him.

Ron just said he didn't look like he was hurting in the slightest. Current hopeful explanation is simply to give Ward some garbage time ABs.

So, completely OT,

There's a new Chicago-style eatery that just opened down the street from where I live, complete with deep-dish pizza, Chicago dogs, Italian beef, the works. What should I get after the game?

I hope this is true. The note at the end of the live box score is very worrisome:

" CHICAGO FIRST BASEMAN DERREK LEE LEFT THE GAME IN THE TOP OF THE SIXTH INNING WITH AN UNDISCLOSED INJURY. "

Why is it that there is nobody in baseball that can give injury updates to the press like in football and basketball? Is it that hard to have one guy stick his head in the dugout for a sec. and ask the trainer if the star player is hurt?
