How often do guys declare w/o an agent and actually return? I think Collison did it last year, but I can't think of many other big names (aside from Rush, whose return was injury driven) who return once they've left, regardless.

 

some of the guys who you really wonder about (Roger Powell Jr. from UI a few years ago comes to mind) are guys who just do it to figure out what it is the NBA execs/coaches want them to work on

Collison didn't declare without an agent last year.

 

Arron Afflalo declared without an agent after his sophomore year and returned, but he was clearly not a first rounder then.

Chris Thomas and Torin Francis both declared without agents and came back to ND. Both regretted it...
