If the Pirates don't want you, it's time to hang up the cleats:

Pirates released RHP Jaret Wright.

Wright would have been a free agent come Thursday if not added to the team's 40-man roster, and was always a bit of a long shot to make the team. He currently sports a 3.38 ERA after eight innings, but has four walks to just one strike out. He'll likely catch on somewhere.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates have bought out Byung-Hyun Kim's contract for $300,000.

He would have been owed $850,000 if not released today. Although he was a favorite to earn a bullpen spot entering camp, Kim had been terrible, amassing a 14.40 ERA in just five innings, and the Pirates' acquisition of Tyler Yates makes him expendable. While a desperate team could take a chance on Kim, Korea seems to be calling.

I remember watching Wright in the 97 playoffs when I was like 14 and hoping that Wood would wind up being like him.

I remember him throwing some serious heat, but looking back at his numbers, he didn't really strike out a lot of guys.

in some ways, your wish came true.

It was all his fault.

It all makes sense now...
