Boy, Demp really demonstrated that he should be in the rotation by laying an egg today. Not sure why we'd take a guy who has started his entire career and put him in the pen, while turning our closer into a starter?

 

Watch as Lieber throws a gem yet still gets tossed in the pen.

I just can't believe we're putting Dempster in the rotation. I think he'd be outperformed by at least 3-4 other options. Marshall would do better; Lieber would be better; Hell...Gallagher would be better...and I wouldn't be surprised if Walrond might be better. Ok...I'm stretching on the last one, but Dempster is not a good option. He can't throw strikes consistently. While he has decent stuff, it's not good enough to compensate for his lack of control.

BP said that; i was just passing it along. plus i'm pretty sure that ray durham cobbled together a solid major league career by getting on base at a good rate, showing solid pop for a middle infielder, and playing below-average defense.
