haven't people learned from last year? everyone got all steamed about bp's 72 win projection for the white sox, and they won EXACTLY 72 GAMES.

and then he busts out the "heart/pride" business, which made me instantly forward the article to FJM. they might not get to it because there are a lot of stupid things written in the spring, but come on, rick morrissey.

I wonder if Rick Morrissey knows that Heart and Guts don't play baseball and that, unfortunately for the White Sox, Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye still do. Or maybe he thinks that instead of playing baseball games to decide who wins the World Series, we should have Tug of War contests, testing the Will, Heart, and Determination of the Souls of the players.

You should shoot him an email truffle and see what he thinks about the computers getting it exactly right.

in his article slamming computers for their predictions, he acknowledges that the computers were exactly right on about the white sox in '07.

i don't get his point.

Can a computer comprehend feistiness? I don't think so.

If you interpret the article to mean that computers can't predict everything and only offer most probably scenarios, its dead-on.

I took it more as him arguing that because Konerko is sad about last season, that will make the ball go farther when he hits it.

Isn't there room for a number of Sox to have good years at the same time? Say, in 2008? If Jim Thome stays healthy, he could have an excellent season. It's a big "if," of course, but not like wondering if, say, the rain can hold off in Seattle for a month or two.

How quickly he forgot 2005.
