I get 95% of Reds games where I live. This should be an interesting couple of years. It would be just like Baker to get them to the playoffs at least once in the next 3 years, but we'll see

1) if that happens

2) what ramifications there will be / if any

Dunn is not his type of player and they have yoiung pitchers. Who knows.

we are the reds aaa affiliate. i expect to see a lot of reds pitchers on rehab assignments over the next few years at louisville slugger field.

dusty baker was the absolute worst thing to happen to homer bailey's career.

skyline chili sucks

Truer words have never been spoken. What kind of sick, twisted wretch puts cinnamon in chili?

You guys are insane, I LOVE skyline chili. I go at least once every time I'm in Cinci.

Someone from Ohio

Exactly. (No offense to anyone's wife or native Ohio folk. Just a joke.)

dude, everyone around here thinks skyline is disgusting. the only people i've seen rave about it is people on the nsbb board who aren't from ohio.

i can't stand skyline.

we're close enough to cincy that we have skyline sold in stores as well as having a few freestanding skyline restaurants around. i won't call it disgusting, but i'm not calling it the best chili ever. closer to the bottom of the list. i'd rather have a few large wendy's chili's if i had to go out and buy some.

I live in Lexington. I kind of thought that was the case with the natives up there, but I wasn't sure.

Gold Star is way better. I don't know if they use cinnamon, but if they do they use a lot less of it.

Just be careful guys. If there is a god I have a feeling He would find Dusty Baker, Manager of the World Champion Cincinnati Reds REALLLLY funny.

I'm more of the mind at this point to not kick a guy when he's down, and wish him success against most teams other than the Cubs. It would be nice if the Reds could own the Brewers and Astros while going about even with the Cards and Pirates. While getting swept by us, of course. :D

In fact, if I could make a wish it would be for the Cubs to win the NL Central while the Reds win the wild card. We destroy the Padres in 3 games while the Reds stumble past the Mets. Then we sweep the Reds to go onto the World Series.

Heh, and I think Dusty would be quite alright with that scenario in his first season in Cincy.

Dusty is by most accounts a very engaging individual and a good man. He also set back this franchise with his archaic thinking and never took responsibility for his actions. I wish him well in his personal life, but in his baseball life, I never want to see him be successful. Call it petty(it is), but he could've ruined us for a long time if we weren't saved by a bloated payroll.

My wish would be for Dusty to force Krivsky to trade Jay Bruce and Joey Votto for Juan Pierre and Esteban Loaiza.

I'd rather it be to us for Sam Fuld and Jason Marquis.

Dusty talking about OBP again.

"I'm big on driving in runs and scoring runs," Baker said. "Guys in the middle should score about close to equal to what they drive in. On-base percentage, that's fine and dandy. But a lot of times guys get so much into on-base percentage that they cease to swing. It's becoming a little bit out of control.

More Dusty from ESPN's spring blog......seriously, you can't make this stuff up.

Dusty Baker says the game's current emphasis on on-base percentage is taking away from something else hitters need to do: swing the bat.

"A lot of this on-base percentage is taking away the aggressiveness of some young kids," he said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "Most of the time you've got to put handcuffs on a young guy to keep him from swinging. [The young players are] playing good, real good. I'd like to see them more aggressive."

"I really, really hate the called third strike. I hate that. You're guessing and you ain't ready to hit."

The topic came up when Baker was discussing his desire to see Joey Votto, who has twice led his minor-league teams in walks, get more aggressive at the plate. Baker says the same goes for Adam Dunn, too.
