Cubs Convention "official" thread

Okay I know it's only Monday, but I'm getting pretty pumped up for this weekend. My weekend will mainly consist of checking Comcast sports. net Chicago for features and general coverage of the event, and then listening to the feed from 720am WGN. My question is: Is it too early to start this new thread and lock the old one?

Sounds like fun. I think despite all drawbacks/hassles of being on your feet all day-- I think I'm going to try real hard to attend next year. Just to say that I've gone. I think it's a real good idea to form a "NSBB contingent". Hopefully Vance or someone else will give the rest of us, updates. Mark, tell my childhood hero Billy Williams, hello for me! Thanks.

Yeah that's understandable Vance. When I realized that I had chemo the week of the convention, that really changed my plans. Not a big deal though, there's always next year. The 2009 convention will be a good one to attend because in 2008, we'll win the WS!

Anyone currently listening to WGN's feed? I don't know what happened but something's wrong with my ability to listen in. I guess my only saving grace is that 720am does make their broadcasts available to the public.

Heads up...Crane Kenney is pretty thin skinned. Wants all of the glory and none of the blame. He knows very little about baseball...one of those sterotypical Cub fans. Rile him up for a bit of fun.

I can't tell you Omar, Rammy, and Prime Time just how much I appreciate the updates. I look forward to the WGN feed for months--- and then, to audio issues. Oh well, maybe I can figure it out by tomorrow.

Yeah, Kap said Demp lost alot of weight. Demp and Theriot were just talking about how they think the Lou tirade really did help the team because they were never asked another question about the dugout fight again after that. They also said Lou went up to the batboy after a 5 hit game by Fontenot and told him "nice game" (thinking it was Fontenot.) :lol:

By the way, Hendry mentioned that he wanted to get a righty OF who could play all 3 positions and spell Pie when he faces the tough lefties. He amde it seem like Pie would play against the easier lefties, and whoever we acquire would play against the tougher ones, though that was my interpretation of it.

 

I still got the impression Hendry might add another SP. I always read into things a little more than I should, but Hendry was talking about imrpoving the offense, and seemed to go out of his way to say something along the lines of "but if we can get a pitcher better than a guy we currently have in there we will do it". And like I said, he acknowledged it would probably take some young players to get a deal done. IMO, it souded like Hendry at least had some options on the table.
