If Roberts is not going to happen, and we immediately drop to Marlon Byrd (please God, no). Why would we not take a look at signing Shannon Stewart. Who we tried to get last year. Now we wouldn't have to give anything up, and he offers real insurance if Pie doesn't pan out.

The only downsides I see are his injury history and lifetime AL player. I do see he was offered arbitration - so that costs us draft picks, right? Thoughts?

The biggest downside I see is that he's not very good. Not worth taking a look at. He's got absolutely no pop left in his bat.

I'm not advocating for Marlon Byrd either. And Byrd's SLG% was much higher last year. Stewart didn't crack .400.

Has Stewart ever really been considered a CF? I've always seen him patrolling LF.

If it came down to Byrd or Stewart, I'd rather have Byrd. I'd probably rather have Jay Payton over those 2 as well.

But, then again, I'd rather just let Pie play. If a really tough lefty is scheduled to pitch, move Soriano to CF and let Murton play LF. When the tough lefty is done for the day, move Soriano back to LF and stick Pie in there.

Free Pie and Cedeno!

Shannon Stewart will make a fine addition to some low level team, but much like Marlon Byrd and Brian Roberts he doesnt fill our immediate need, which JH probably wont realise until June when everyone whose been given a ride in the revolving door of number 5 starters are a combined 1-9..

I really like the Shannon Stewart lady that's mostly naked all the time. The Shannon Stewart baseball player isn't worth much at all anymore.

The baseball player can't play CF, can he? Do we need another corner OF when we already have a cheap, above average guy that just hit his prime that can't get into the lineup?

Oh, and do not do a GIS for Shannon Stewart at work. Unless you don't like your job and were going to quit today anyway. Yikes.
