Sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal that Ron Mahay and the Royals have agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract.

Mahay was also pursued by the Yankees, Rays, Giants and Astros. He doesn't get the three-year deal it looked like he would a few weeks ago, but $4 million per season isn't bad at all.

I am so glad he signed somewhere else. Hawkins for one year is bad enough.

You guys could have had a nice pen of former Cubs. Hawkins, Mahay, Farnsworth.

This is a case of where 2 out of 3 is not only bad, but terrible.

Flash just had his worst year since 99 last year when he posted a 99 ERA+. Before that he put up ERA+s of 140, 165, 204 and 146.

I've always loved Flash and would have no problem with him on the Cubs (unless last year was a sign he's now done).
