Pretty sure Livan is a FA.

I don't really like the return for the As. Gonzalez is a stud prospect, but the rest I'm not too excited about, and it just seems like quantity over quality which I'm not a big fan of. Especially when you factor in how cheaply Haren is signed for the next 3 years. I'm not saying they needed some Pirates-esque return of a guy who has a year of major league experience and is a mediocrity, but I'd have rather had somebody who was more of a sure thing to produce at the major league level than Gonzalez and a handful of take your chances.

Im not sure how good the DBacks system is, but I heard they gave up 4 of their top 10 prospects to the A's. i know the Dodgers and Angels (maybe) could offer better packages but who else could?

the lucky team may just do it again

Funny, you say lucky. My first reaction was "wow, they have solidified themselves as the best team in the NL."

Given Haren's dropoff during the second half of last year (OPSA of .813, tOPS+ against of 135), I think he's going to be solid for them, but not exactly spectacular. That type of dropoff might be an indicator of a possible injury down the road. Granted, I don't necessarily see a Mulder-like dropoff, but those are some dangerous looking numbers.

They're still going to need some offensive players to replicate last year's success, which isn't necessarily a given (especially for players like Byrnes).

I have a feeling Lilly's dropoff is going to be more significant than Haren's.

I'm hoping that Larry found something that helped Lilly even though Rothschild does seem to help the K type pitchers more. Didn't Bobskeeper have a stat that showed how "lucky" pitchers were?
