The Reds may make a play for Marlins left-hander Dontrelle Willis. Cincinnati finally has decent prospects to trade -- starting with pitcher Homer Bailey and slugger Joey Votto. Josh Hamilton, last year's feel good story, also should have good value now.

Reds interested in Lincecum

Cincinnati is apparently interested in San Francisco right-hander Tim Lincecum, but if the Giants insist on Reds outfield prospect Jay Bruce as part of any deal, look for the Reds to back off.

Bruce, 20, hit a combined .319 with 26 homers and 89 RBIs in 133 games at three Minor League stops in 2007. The left-handed hitting Bruce is considered one of the team's cornerstones of the future.

i really hope the reds trade bailey and votto for willis.

Yeah...........that's not going to happen especially when Lincecum could be had for Bruce most likely. Although I'm not sure I'd do that either.

Agreed, that would be awesome. Willis is overrated, and Bailey and Votto look reaaly good.

So what is the over/under if they Reds get either of these guys, before Lincecum or Willis are on the DL?

i would hope that it wouldn't happen...because it would be an absolutely awful trade....but for the cubs sake, i'm gonna cross my fingers on it happening.

I think Bruce would only be part of the package for Lincecum. Tim the Enchanter was a rookie last season, has an incredible ceiling, and will be cheap for a long time. They're going to want Bruce, Cueto, and probably one or two decent prospects down in A-ball, imo.

Fwiw, I like Bruce more than Lincecum and I love Lincecum.

Jay Bruce is going to be a great player. I like him more then Lincecum as well.

I'd also take him over Maybin, Pie, and Martinez (Mets).

Cubs would never get him though.

Pie doesn't belong in the same sentence as Bruce.

Maybin/Bruce is a tough one for me. They were very close last year at this time as I liked Maybin more, but Bruce took more steps, while Maybin has the higher ceiling but further to go than Bruce. Bruce is the better hitter while Maybin is the better overall player.
