Not really. It's not like he can just decide he's not happy with the contract and never pitch for them. At the bare minimum, they get him for a full season. Then they have a long time to negotiate a contract, and if worse comes to worst, they still get draft picks.

Not really. It's not like he can just decide he's not happy with the contract and never pitch for them. At the bare minimum, they get him for a full season. Then they have a long time to negotiate a contract, and if worse comes to worst, they still get draft picks.

Based on everything reported any team acquiring him will demand a window to discuss a contract extension with him. If they can't come to an agreement, the deal doesnt happen. So IRS pretty much the same as a posting fee.
