Mostly, I just hope he doesn't turn out like Cory Pat.

meh, I really don't care. It isn't like we invested a high draft pick in him, the only invenstement has been an emotional one as he has been touted as the stud of the sytem for some time now. Its time to find out if he can play in the bigs, if not move on.

Back to the top, I'm not sure what's so laughable about some of that stuff. The Cubs do have plenty of OFers, and somebody like Pie is clearly ready for a shot, while Patterson is arguably deserving of a similar opportunity. He'll turn 25 next year, and has 1700 professional PA over 3 seasons with an OPS of 825. He's not a "must-play now" guy, but he's probably ready to start seeing some time. I'd rather he fight for a bench spot than some $1 million vet who is probably not going to play any better.

I'm in agreement here. I don't see what's laughable about the article. The Cubs clearly should add a big bat, but if they didn't, the in-house youth options are available and the team would be about an 85 win team.

I don't see anything wrong with the article as written, if you look at it as a current snap-shot. But the Cubs definitely should pursue another bat.

Ok, I'll respond to a few things:

2. What's so shocking about the idea of moving Braun from 3B? He's flat-out terrible there.

I never said it was shocking, I remarked about how scary the thought of lowell in that lineup would be...

How many years does Pie have to stay in AAA before he's ready? How well does he have to perform there until he's ready? Come on...

I phrased that badly... I meant to say he hasn't looked like he's ready

Yeah, I'm not sure if the haha was at the "they will still look like an 85 win team", or if it was about the offseason being quiet.

You honestly think we'd make the playoffs again with the exact same team?

To the last line...yeah, we will have about as good of a shot as we had this year.

Isn't this the same guy that said the Cubs would sweep the DBacks in the NLDS?

That was his prediction yes - are you implying he isn't clairvoyant?

No, I was implying (actually, I was clearly stating) that I thought it was him, but couldn't exactly recall.
