Thank you Cubs for a fun season. The excitement of winning the division outweighs the suck of losing this series. So, what realistic (or unrealistic) changes can he hope for for our 2008 world champion Chicago Cubs?

I'm really holding out hope that Cuban can buy the team. And I'm hoping Hendry is gone. As far as the roster goes, we obviously need another bat. SS and RF are the best options for an upgrade. I think SS is the biggest need because I think Murton could put really good numbers together if given a chance in RF. Or move Soriano to RF and get a LF, which would probably be easier.

How much do you think it would take to get Tejada? I think if we're looking to win now, Patterson is expendable. Would Patterson and Marshall be close to what it would take to get him or would it be a lot more?

Here's the roster I've got in mind:

Soriano RF

Murton LF

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

Tejada SS

DeRosa 2B

Soto C

Pie CF

Rotation:

Zambrano

Lilly

Hill

2 of Marquis/Hart/Gallagher/Prior/Marmol/Veal

Wood

Marmol

Howry

Wuertz

Eyre

Pig

Hart/Gallagher

Bench:

Theriot

Ward

Fontenot

Blanco

Pagan

there's no way we're adding payroll. i hope everyone liked this years team, cause we'll be seeing it again

also, i hoped everyone really enjoyed 85 wins and a sweep in the playoffs, because that's MORE than we're going to see for the next few years

No I'd much rather have made the playoffs than not.

Who can say at this point. I think the dust needs to settle a bit. My biggest concern after this season is there are just so many question marks.

So hypothetically, who did we trade for Tejada? Will Ohman and Ronny Cedeno?

When Prior gets here next year and wins 20 games we're going to be unstoppable

He stole my heart in 03....I'd say there's another good 3-4 years before I give up on him....unless he's no longer a Cub.

If we really want Tejada, and he is obtainable, wrere looking at trading away at least Marshall, Theriot, one of Veal/Gallagher/Samardzia, as well as a few other prospects, and I wouldnt be surprised if they demanded Pie. Id do it in a heartbeat. Miggys signed through 2011.

That Orioles team has a lot of holes to fill, and especially in the division they're in, and they're better off with a host of major league ready young players than one big name.

It still burns me up inside that it was less then 2 years ago that we could have had him stright up for Prior. I wonder if theyd still accept that deal?

I do agree with you, but looking back we had a lot of great moments this season. Back in April, I really thought we would be around .500 this season and we blew that under the water. We've had rookie contributions that in my opinion came out of nowhere. I certainly didn't expect this season from Marmol or Soto for that matter. Yes I am disappointed for not winning the world series but we've had rookie contributions we just haven't seen in a while. I mean Kevin Hart, what a return on investment for Bynum?!! I just didn't think we would be here even after all the money spending but we are here.

im not familiar with the phrase "blew that under the water," but i can only assume that it has the opposite meaning of "blew that out of the water," as we basically met the expectation that we would be a mediocre .500 team
