Got the pic, thanks - It's pretty hard to see, and the only thing that really sticks out is how much I'd like to wipe that ish-eating grin off his face. With a baseball bat.

plz do. you owe me for the pic ;)

I'd put junk on my shoe laces like the closer did. Tie my shoes, yeah right. No body thinks twice when you have to "tie" your shoes.

Until you do it before every pitch.

Just use it once. He's a reliever and it may just be for one pitch.

In regards to bringing Webb back on 3-days rest if the Diamondbacks are down 2-1, Webb also only threw 89 pitches yesterday which should be real beneficial in bouncing back on short rest.

There wasn't anything on Webb's hat.

while there really probably was something on his hat, the question really is whether or not he

a)knew about it-or put it there

b)was using it to doc pitches

question:

If we go up 2-1, what would hold us back from pitching Marquis (other then he Sox) on Sunday?

@ Wrigley

bad offenseive team-the kind Marquis can handle

against Webb possibly saving Z for Game 5

Webb pitched a great game. Just give him the credit for being the better pitcher last night and move on. This reminds me of the Dusty Baker days, when everytime the Cubs lost is was someone else's fault. Last night the blame was all on the Cubs and their lack of offense.

There is no doubt that there was a dark spot on the bill of the hat. I was watching the game on HD and it was clearly visible. I thought for a second it might have been a substance he was using but didn't think anything of it because I personally didn't see him go to it a lot.

Huh? it was stained. The spot was quite clear. Didn't look like anything too suspicious, though. I wondered if it was sweat

Oh c'mon.

About what are you expressing incredulity?

I just think this is making something out of completely nothing. Webb is one of the best pitchers in the league and whooped up on us. Period.

Very possibly. But there was OBVIOUSLY something on his hat. In all likely hood it's just a dirty spot from putting his hand there constantly. But, regardless, there was some sort of discoloration there. And it's true, he DID go to that spot on his hat before some of his pitches. Again, the fact that he is going to his hat so often could be what caused the discoloration in the first place, but we dont know that.

Nobody here is accusing him of most definitely cheating. We're just saying that we saw something on his hat that he went to on occasion.

Couldn't he have just been adjusting his hat? Players are always fidgeting with their hats and uniforms (Zambrano).

Yeah, that's what I was getting at with the second part of that statement. I brought it up earlier in this thread, too, I think. Chances are it's just one of his pre-pitch twitches. Z grabs his junk, Webb messes with his cap. But after seeing Rogers/Tavarez have done in the past (and apparently that rockies pitcher yesterday?), it's not unreasonable to think there was something up. Or at least ask questions about it.
