He is what he has always been. Mr. Hendry over payed and I have to hope for years like this one until year 4 or so. I don't think he'll do that well past that.

Probably not.

But hey, at least they overpayed for a good player this time!

True and let's hope his year continues like Roast said!

No more leg muscle tears, please.

He's a very healthy body, so I think he has a chance to sustain his performance for a tad longer than some other players would -- provided he stays relatively injury-free.

No question we overpaid though.

The $10 million man (which is what the Cubs are paying him THIS year, despite all the national morons who just refer to the $136 total) is the reason we are in the playoffs. Back at the beginning of June, the Cubs were on the edge of total collapse. Zo went on to win player of the month helping to turn the team around. Then, in the most critical time of the year, Al shinned once again breaking the Cubs all-time monthly HR total. Sure, he Ks more often than I'd like, but he gutted it out this year and delivered a division title, with more to come...

Yeah but he was one of the reasons the Cubs were on the edge of total collapse.

i didn't care about his contract when we signed him and i don't care about it now. i do, however, wish he would bat 5th

then where the hell is Aramis supposed to bat when we get ARod?

hmm, well Lee could bat 2nd with A-Rod 3rd. happy?

You'll have to leave Sori hitting leadoff. Dunn has dibs on the 5 hole 8-)

Alright, we'll just move Dunn to 6th then.

I'm another person that really doesn't care how much he makes. Until his salary causes us not to be able to sign other pieces we need (which is a possible concern once we find out the nature of the new owner) It's not money out my wallet so It doesn't concern me.

the length was an issue but the Cubs needed a slugger

Would you rather have

Soriano at his contract or C Lee at his? Or JD Drew's .796 OPS?

A) OK, fine. He's a $10 million man now. If you want to look at it that way, despite the rest of the money allocated to him over the year's, it's fine. But just keep in mind how bad it's going to look when he's making a king's ransom to be a 39 year old bench player. The money will be going to him, inevitably. That behemoth of a contract is untradeable (unless we pay someone to take him off our hands later on).

B) He's A reason we are in the playoffs. Not THE reason. Nor does this justify his salary. He was also a major reason we were on the brink of a disastrous season/collapse, since he was being paid for and counted on for great production, and he wasn't delivering.

I'm fine with Sori this year and want him to do well. I'm a fan of his because he's on the Cubs and because he really came up big this last month for us. I just felt that these things needed to be pointed out.

Dunn should always bat #2

So, just to be clear, we're looking at:

Reyes - SS

Lee - 1B

ARod - 2B (not sure where else to go here)

ARam - 3B

Soriano - CF

Dunn - LF

Murton - RF

Soto - C

I'm not sure, but I'm hopeful we'd win more than 85 games next year w/ that lineup.
