The must-win game is Game 2. With the team's best pitcher this year (performance-wise) going and a key swing game going (Cubs will have a chance to either tie it at 1 going to Chicago or push AZ against the wall), Lilly will have to be fantastic. Game 1 is important, but Game 2 is vital.

The thing that scares me is that I read somewhere that the DBacks are 28-17 against lefties this year. Ted Lilly and Rich Hill pitch games 2-3, Zambrano is neutralized with Webb. It could be a very tough series if we come out flat in game 1.

They might have a good record against left-handers this year, but that might be coincidence. Arizona is 15th in the NL in hitting against LH's. In fact, look at this:

Batting against LHP:

Cubs: .263/.325/.431

Arizona: .250/.319/.402

The Cubs have a 16 point advantage over Arizona facing right-handers, and a 35 point edge against left-handers.

If we win game 1, we still need to win games 2 and 3.

Indeed, I think it's clear we're talking about probabilities and how people "feel" the series will play out though.

I 100% agree with this.

If the Cubs can beat Willis in Game 4, they win the series. No way they could lose both games at home with Prior and Wood on the mound.

Lilly and Hill also each had stellar outings in their only starts against Arizona this year.
