I dont think this is a terrible signing. The Sox have no position players ready to come up. Pierzynski is going to be 31 next year. He isnt a great catcher but he is pretty solid. May also increase his trade value at next years deadline if he is hitting ok.

I've been saying this since midseason. If he would have traded Crede last year, Konerko, Dye, Contreras at midseason, and Garland/Vasquez and Uribe this winter, he would be loaded and ready to compete in 2009. Instead he looks like he's bringing back pretty much the same team that looked terrible this year. Crede (last year), Konerko, Dye, and Garland/Vasquez would get you at least 5 quality prospects and young players.
