According to the press, Lou came out and stated that Tracshel may not make the start on Thurs. The story didn't mention anything about possible starters. The list of usual suspects is:

Hart

Marshall

Gallagher (if he is still with the team)

Piggy

Anybody think the Cubs would be better off to let the bullpen start the game? It could go

Wood (2 innings)

Weurtz (2 innings)

Hart(1-2 innings)

Eyre (1-2 innings)

Marmol

Howry

Dempster

I would take my chances with those guys over Trachsel ever day of the week.

Your second scenerio is interesting, but won't happen. We may need one of those guys on Friday.

I really hope thats true. The thought of Trachsel starting has been making me very uncomfortable.

Why not start Rich Hill? Move him up from his Friday's start.

With both Griffey and Dunn out, that might be the choice.

I think Rich Hill would have a great game dealing to the Marlins young guys.

I'd really like to see Hill start tomorrow. And Zambrano on Friday. Both would be on regular rest. Hopefully, that would mean 3 wins and a division clinch. Can start Trachsel and Marshall on the final 2 days of the season. Give Lilly rest, and NOT give Zambrano too much rest, which I think could be a problem.

If Cubs lose and lose a game on the Brewers, may need Hill to get a big win. If the Cubs win and gain a game, I'd want Hill (and Z) set up to put the nail in the coffin.

Can't use the whole pen in 1 day. That would make at least Wood and Wuertz unavailable the following day. If someone is ineffective, somebody else gets taxed.

I wasn't referring to wanting the pen to pitch the whole game, just Trachsel not pitching....which, try as I might, I can't find anything negative about that.

Agreed. Start Hill Thursday, Zambrano Friday. Regardless of what happens tonight, this is what I'd like to see. I have to believe this is what Lou is considering.

That sounds about right. You can always start Traschel Saturday, who could do well in a powerless (sans Dunn/Girff) Reds lineup. Or take a gamble and start Hart who Lou loves. Whatever the case it's going to be a nervous 5 games. Whew!

This is what we absolutely need to do. Hopefully the Harang game won't mean anything.

I have no doubt we will make it. We're gonna bang up this Marlins pitcher tonight.

Wow...when I heard about the Dunn injury I never put 2 + 2 together and realized how this affected the Cubs.

No Griffey and no Dunn in the Reds lineup.

I'd say we're in good shape for that series.

God I wish I had no doubt we were gonna make it, this would be such an blissfully non-stressful week.

Just read your sig. Come on, now.

Now if Harang could get hurt we're in business!

You are probably right. I didn't realize the Cubs were pushing Hill back a day so he could start vs. the Reds. Lets hope that Trachsel has made his last start as a Cub.

I would certainly hate this to turn into a situation similar to "well at least we have Prior and Wood for Games 6 and 7".
