Major League Baseball, declaring its drug-testing program is stronger than even the Olympics' curriculum, hopes to have a blood test available next season that will catch players using human growth hormone.

"We're cautiously optimistic," said Gary Green, a UCLA doctor and consultant for MLB. "Talking to the commissioner (Bud Selig), if the test becomes widely available, he certainly would be in favor of getting that implemented."

officials from MLB and the players association are talking about adding more drugs to their banned substance list such as Clomid and Nolvadex, which can be used by HGH and steroid users.

That would be great. However, seeing as the player's union dragged its feet this long for substantial steroids testing, I can't see it implemented in 08.

I don't think MLB gets the recognition it deserves to devoting resources to trying to develop a test for HGH. The much lauded NFL has done almost nothing to help find a test.
