nothing like a pennant chase for two sub .500 teams!

Since Tri-City has the tie-breaker, at least that means that, if Boise makes the playoffs, they will be at .500 rather than below. Mediocrity rules!

Anyone else notice something off about the NWL standings?

7 of the 8 teams are below .500? That's crazy.

The avg age of the well over 500 club is almost 23, while Boise who has two starting pitchers in their rotation at 18 in Acosta and 19 in Huseby.

And 18-year old Acosta replaced 18-year old Alberto Cabrera.

The Giants always seem to leave players at Salem longer than do other clubs.

Boise is up 1-0 after 1 in this must-win game (Thomas single, Thomas SB, Guyer RBI single).

Thats basically true for all the lower levels of the Giants system.

Rain delay in Boise. Boise up 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd.

The tarp just came off.

1:01 rain delay is over and Tri-City's starting pitcher remains in the game. I would think Huseby is done though since he had a longer break and has that arm injury history.

ETA: Jordan Latham is in for the third inning for Boise, this really sucks for the Boise pen.

Huseby's regular season is over -

66.1 IP, 3.39 ERA, 53 K/31 BB, .245 BAA, 7 HR. Not bad for a first full season back from TJS.

Jordan Latham was brutal w/ poor control and gave up a few XBH; Marcus Hatley had to come in and relieve him but Boise is now down 3-1 in the middle of the third inning.

that blows, he was doing well through the first 2 innings, then latham came out and crapped the bed

Boise got one back with a Wyatt double and a Guyer RBI single. Boise down 3-2 after 3.

Ugh, Hatley gives up a 2-run HR and now it's 5-2 in the 5th.

Bases loaded walk for Guyer makes it 5-3.

Bases loaded HBP to the head by Donaldson makes it 5-4. Donaldson is ok, he took 2-3 steps towards the pitchers and the umps broke it up. Most of the Hawks stormed the field but nothing happened. Pitching change time.

5-4, bases loaded, one out in the bottom of the 5th and Kyler Burke due up.

Posted

Argh, Burke struck out swinging at ball 4 on a full count. Vitters fouled out in moderately deep LF to end the threat.

After 5, Boise is down 5-4.

Tony Thomas triples and Jonathan Wyatt singles him in in the bottom of the 7th! Still no outs and the game is tied at 5.

...

Wyatt advances to second on a WP. Takes third on a sac bunt by Guyer (close play) for the first out. Josh Donaldson is intentionally walked. Donaldson takes second on a WP (Wyatt has to hold).

Kyler Burke dunks a single into center field to score Wyatt! The throw goes over the cut off man and Donaldson scores too. Boise is up 7-5.

Vitters Ks and Rosa lines out to RF. After 7, Boise leads it 7-5.

Higgins gives up 1 in the 9th but gets a 1-6-3 DP to end the game and Boise wins 7-6! If Boise wins tomorrow, they go to the NWL Championship!

BoiseHawks.com[/url]"] Hawks Play for Division Title Tonight

The Boise Hawks will play for the division title Wednesday in the final game of the regular season. One more win and the Hawks will capture the Eastern Division Championship and play host to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in the Northwest League Championship Series beginning Thursday night in Boise.

The Hawks ambushed the Dust Devils Tuesday night scoring three runs in the seventh inning to come away with a 7-6 win. Tony Thomas led off the seventh inning with a triple and base hits by Jonathan Wyatt and Kyler Burke highlighted the three run outburst that put the Hawks in front to stay.

Yuri Higgins got the save, throwing the final two innings, starting a 1-6-3 double play to end the game. Mark Sawyer scooped a tough throw out of the dirt at first base to complete the game-ending play. Josh Donaldson picked off a runner at second base in the eighth inning to snuff a Tri City rally. John Muller got the win with two shutout innings of relief.

The regular season concludes Wednesday night as the Hawks send Ryan Acosta to the mound. He will be opposed by the Dust Devils' Sheng-An Kuo. Game time at Memorial Stadium in Boise is 7:15 pm.
