I don't have link, I read it from a Braves fan elsewhere.

It's on Rotoworld

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves have designated closer Bob Wickman for assignment.

This is quite a surprise, but if the Braves don't think Wickman is good enough to close any longer, it's likely the right move. It's doubtful he'd be of use in any other role. The Braves will likely go to a closer-by-committee for now, with Rafael Soriano and Peter Moylan becoming the favorite for saves. Octavio Dotel, who is out with a shoulder strain, could take over as the primary closer next month. Aug. 24 - 5:37 pm et

If he didn't have part of a finger missing on his throwing hand he probably would have been DFA a long time ago.

He apparently complained about pitching in non-save situations. On the Braves website, Andruw Jones made a comment about needing pitchers who want to pitch when they're needed, not when they want.

a defeat for chubby guys everywhere

I thought David Wells DFA was bad enough.

Well he got signed, so they had to knock them back down.

Wickman's attitude was mentioned when the Braves discussed his release.

Link.

"If it's not a save situation, he was not happy about it," Andruw Jones said. "It's not fair to the team. It's not fair for the manager. The way he was going about his business, separate from everybody.

"We're a team. Everybody has their own attitude. Everybody's got their own feeling about each other. Everybody's got their own way of going about their business. But when we put a uniform on and we're all together, we're all as one. And we need guys who want to go out there and perform."

Wickman didn't want to pitch in non-save situations, so Cox gave him his wish. :D

That's great, hahahaha :D

Bobby Cox does not mess around. To me, he is the best manager in baseball and it isn't even close.

Reminds me of the old story about the Packers' offensive lineman, Jim Ringo.

Ringo showed up in Lombardi's office, with an agent in tow, looking to negotiate a raise. Lombardi was so angered that he excused himself for five minutes only to return and announce that he had traded Ringo to the Eagles.

Buh-bye!
