The best way to get autographs is to go very early and catch the team where they exit the cabs to enter the stadium. Some venues are better than others. It's hit and miss as well. I've gotten as many as 19 in one day and as few as 2-3. Some stadiums, like the Ballpark in Arlington, have a limited access drop off point which stifles all chances.

If that fails, just try during BP...but you'll be lucky to get more than two and probably won't get the big names.

The use of little kids and hot women probably works best. I remember when I was younger Dawson and George Bell both ignored me nonstop however my little sisters when up to both of them and they signed right away. We were staying at the same hotel as them so had repeated access to them.

Wait by the players parking lot after the game. They always sign afterwards. I think you have a better chance of getting them to sign then while they are on their way to the stadium before the game. And like vance said, during BP is always good too.

I agree with this. I tried to get a lot of autographs when I was younger (12-14) and didn't have a lot of luck. But my 16-year-old sister had much better luck (which is a little sick, if you think about it). If you have a 20-something hot friend or girlfriend, bring them along. Might not help, but it won't hurt.

If they win, the player parking lot is a great option after the game.

Yeah - after a win helps. After a loss, watch out. I thought Dunston was going to punch my mom in the face after a loss in St Louis one year (we stayed in the team hotel and saw him walking through the lobby).

I have got plenty of autographs outside the teams hotel when they stay in Denver. Usually there are 10-15 people out there, and they sign for the kids first, and then usually sign for the adults. *most* players are good at the hotel, just not inside the hotel where security will kick you out.

Anyone know a good way to get Cub autographs before or after an away game(ie today)?

Just write to your boy Murton care of the Cubs. He will sign, hell he will probably even personalize it.

Yeah, it was well known that Mark Prior used to sign anything that was sent to him at Wrigley Field as long as it had a return envelope included (sometimes even without it). A friend of a friend of mine actually took a really cool picture with his camera and had it developed into an 8 x 10. It's Prior and Wood standing on the field talking at sunset. He sent it in, and both Prior and Wood signed it.

Thanks, do the players sign baseball cards?

Some sign merchandise, some don't. I remember a long time ago I sent Sosa a card to sign and it came back with no autograph at all, the card was destroyed... and a note that said he doesn't sign merchandise.

On the other hand, I've sent players of numerous sports/teams and just sent a note card and a self-addressed stamped envelope and asked nicely for an autograph, and they have returned in kind with a glossy photo or a card signed. It all depends on the person.

Dan Marino sent me a colored 8x10 glossy signed and personalized.

I met Murton and Pie before a game in Iowa earlier this year -- both very nice. Murton, in particular, was very accomadating to a little kid. Doesn't answer your question too well, maybe, just that some players certainly do make an effort to help fans out and make their day. Great experience -- i can post some pictures maybe later.

I hate trying to get autographs. Even at our A-Ball stadium, I feel like a total d-bag standing by the dugout with the 8 year olds. at least I don't have a binder of baseball cards in custom made plastic sleeves
