Sam Fuld to Iowa; Al Alburquerque Back to Peoria

OF Sam Fuld was called up to Iowa and was in the I-Cubs lineup this morning.

 

RHP Al Alburquerque was called up from Boise to Peoria while RHP Julio Castillo was demoted from Boise to Mesa. RHPs Blake Parker (2006 16th rounder - converted from catcher) and RHP Yuri Higgins (2007 38th rounder) have come up from Mesa to replace Alburquerque and Castillo in Boise.

So glad to see him get this shot While not necessarily a power bat, he has been an absolutely consistent hitter his entire minor league career. I think he'll do great against the pitching of AAA.

I liked watching Fuld the few times I saw him in Peoria in '05. I'm not sure if this is statistically accurate, but I'd call him a CF version of Theriot.

 

Though he's no power hitter, I did see him hit an absolute BOMB once... might have been at Kane County.
