wow, these boys really picked a horrible time to spiral

i am still barely clinging to the hope that it isn't an out-of-control spiral

Don't you get it - that was a fake winning streak they were on.

i don't believe that

Why? This isn't a good team that was playing over their heads for a while against bad teams.

that simply isn't true though

fatal mistake: not making a deal at the deadline

they have the players...they have the talent...heck, you can even argue that it was all starting to come together as a team...the best way to win championships...

give me some really good reasons describing exactly how they were playing over their heads for two straight months?

put in gallagher, give him some garbage time innings

IMO, a four run deficit is still a game. At 94 pitches through 5 innings, Piniella needs to let Z pitch at least one more inning.

You forgot to add the one in the line score, hate to have to correct this :(

for most teams yes... for the cubs it's miles out of reach

Fontenot, Theriot, Marquis, Hill and De Rosa were having "career months."

why the hell does a major league baseball player have a listed phone number?

R Oswalt might not stand for "Roy."

You know back when I was a kid and made prank phone calls me & my buddy called this random person in Columbia City, Indiana with the last name Mantle and joked around about talking to Mickey.....old lady was real serious and said "oh he don't visit much anymore" or something like that. Always left me wondering if that was really a relation to THE Mick. And yes this was before he passed away.

I grew up in Warsaw.... my brother used to live in Columbia City... not named Mantle though

that does not constitute a fake winning streak...for a team to win a championship...everybody must contribute at some time or another...one could argue that what the cubs just went through is definitely a sign pointing towards a championship team...
