'Soriano contributed two doubles and scored two runs, and is now getting the "salaam" treatment from left-field bleacher fans, a tradition that began in 1987 when Andre Dawson manned right field and Harry Caray nicknamed it the "salami" treatment.

"It's fun," Soriano said. "I had a good time in New York, and a good time in Washington and Texas, but never like the fun I'm having here."

This is from the trib this morning what is the 'salaam' treatment and has anyone been part of it yet?

If I remember correctly, it is like a "we're not worthy" bowing down. It was a long time ago though, so I could be wrong.

Nope that's it. Didn't Sammy get a lot of that too? Soriano deserves it this season. He's having a good year.

For Rashan Salaam, former Bears first round pick. Yeah, as Soriano runs out to left field, everyone in the bleachers simultaneously drops their beer.

Man as a Packer fan I loved that guy! :D

I cried in disgust and laughter on that one.

I've sat in left field about a dozen times this year and Soriano has more interaction with the fans than any other player ive seen.

My favorite moment was during a cubs sox game when we had one d-bag sox fan in the section (he had "world series champs" printed where the name is supposed to go on his sox jersey). Well everyone was giving him a hard time and I think he yelled something at Soriano and Soriano flicked him off. It was HILARIOUS.

Yes, I was in the bleachers at the end of June and Soriano LOVES the bleacher fans. He always runs out, points to everyone, will talk to people, whatever. You can yell "TWO DOWN SORIANO!" and hold out two fingers, and he'll turn around and flash two fingers back at ya. At one point some girl yelled "Gimmie a kiss Soriano!" and he turned around in between pitches and blew her a kiss. He definitely loves it here.
