Plays every game against the Brewers. Steroids or not, it's amazing to see a fat, old, crippled guy who can hit HRs against 25 mph wind. Time to root for Barry, but only during the Brewer series.

he might as well not even suit up for the Brewers series. No way they want him to break the record on the road

He probably would love to hit at least one at Bud's house!!

"I was just hoping they'd throw the ball back like they said. They lied," Bonds said. "I was going to put them in my trophy room."

Burnt. I wouldn't have thrown it back either, though. That's like getting hit by a gold bar.

The Giants have a 7-game homestand after the Brewers' series. I'm guessing he goes hard after 1 homerun over this weekend, and then if he gets one he'll be "too sore" to play until he gets back to San Francisco. There's no way he's going to break the record away from home.

I could careless what he does. The Cubs are 2.5 out of the Wild Card and in 2nd and 3.5 out of the division. I hope he crushes the Brewers, but outside of that he is just a side show to our vastly more important Chicago Cubs.

Imagine him breaking the record the same year the Cubs win the WS. He will be secondary for the rest of his life in terms of what the fans remember.

especially since half of all current major leaguers will have 800 homers by the time they retire.

Dude has some big, big marbles (no pun intended). What kind of idiot would throw thousands of dollars away? Who said they would throw the ball back?

Every single person in the bleachers should have been equipped with a "back up" ball to throw back should they catch a home run. Every one of those balls should have had "Suck it, Barroid" on them.

I'm rooting for him to beat Aaron either way.

fourth

1. Because I believe most of the venom towards him is kneejerked, because the media, MLB, Congress and the fans overreacted to a situation if they had any kind of sense they should have known about for at least 15 yrs anyway.

2. Steroids help pitchers more than hitters and I believe a lot of players were using and still are.

3. I also think if Bonds wasnt as much of a egomaniac that he is there wouldnt be as much disdain for him.

4. If we are going to get on the cheaters, we need to get on all of them. Corkers, Scuffers, fake taggers, spit ballers and so on.

5. A large majority of fans dont care about the guys on their own team who are probable "users" easier to point at Bonds

6. Its not like Aaron was a heart warming fan favorite. I am not saying he was Bonds but he wasnt Ernie Banks either.

7. I think the main reason for the power surge of the last generation is shortened fields and watered down pitching. Steroids is just a smaller factor. Aaron also played during a time of expansion and watered down pitching

8. Someone is going to have to realize that there are a lot of 40somethings still playing productive baseball. Are all of them juicing. If not what are the reasons.

9. Steroids and HGH are not illegal because they make players better. They are illegal because they are addictive and bad for your health. There are plenty of performance enhancing drugs. Koufax took a painkiller that is illegal to perscibe now. Players have always looked for competitive edges. If steroids and HGH were readily available back in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s I am guessing there would have been a large amount of players using then. I also dont think that the HR record would be much higher.

10. Lastly and the one that really has always gotten under my skin a little. No one questions any of Brett Favres records and soon to be records. Would he have been able to perform back in the day if he wasnt using un-perscribed Vicoden. Really the media cant have it one way for one player and another for another, just because Favre isnt a egomaniac or is he and he is just friendlier with the media.

edit; ok I quoted the wrong thread. I am pretty sure someone asked why though.

big marbles? why? for saying that he wished the fans would actually throw the ball back?

if i was in his position, id definitely hope that someone dumb enough to throw it back caught my home run.
