Is Wandy still terrible?

I think I could get a hit off that guy.

I don't know about you but your son sure could. :)

No doubt about it :)

Probably not. I think this lineup is only going to be against lefty's though.

That what I'm taking out of it as well, but if the Cajun Connection works well maybe we might see more of it.

Fontenot looked terrible yesterday.

That is a deadly 3,4,5 combo.

Just imagine if we had a big LH bat to go with that 3,4,5 combo...

=P~ =P~ =P~

A healthy Jr. would make me do bad things in my pants

Hopefully Sori hits well at the 5-spot so he can stay there.

It's amazing to have a manager realize the team's weakness and make adjustments to correct it.

I know. It's so weird to see the manager, you know, um, manage

Again, why do people think Soriano hitting 5th is going to do much good?

I know, I almost forgot what managing was all about.

Because he can drive in more runs with people like Fontenot, Lee, and Ramirez hitting in front of him instead of the catcher, Izturis, Pagan, and the pitcher?

Ok, it's Sullivan, but here's some info on Sori's move to the 5-hole

from Lou

"We've struggled a little bit against left-handed hitting, and I talked to Alfonso to see if we could get a little more balance in the middle part of our lineup, gets us a little deeper," Piniella explained. "We're just going to try it and see what happens. We've still got speed with Theriot and Fontenot, and now we've got a little more power in the middle."

So he can stop hitting solo HR's and hit them when people are on base

He's got a much better chance at hitting in some runs batting behind Fontenot, Lee, and Ramirez than he does hitting behind Izzy, Bowen, Crap, and the pitcher.

I think it will make pitchers pitch to Aramis more and I think some of Soriano's solo shots will become 2 and 3 run homers. But Theriot has to get on base at a decent clip for it to work.

Exactly. If he stays in the 5 hole expect his RBI total to sky-rocket.

Amen. With the black holes we have in the 7-9 spots, he comes up more often than not with the bases empty.

They just showed Lou saying that on the Lead-Off Man.

True. He also won't get as many at bats.

another quote from Lou on the switch:

"Remember, when the season started, our catcher here (Michael Barrett) hit in the middle part of the lineup. And the right-fielder that's in Iowa (Matt Murton) hit in the sixth spot, too. We really haven't replaced those two components, so we have a little bit of a hole there in the middle of our lineup, and it's against left-hand pitching.

"So we're just trying to shore it up a little bit, and see if it works. If it doesn't, then it doesn't work and then we'll go back to where we were and keep trying. I like the idea of when something isn't working the way you like, that you tinker around with it and find another solution. That's my job as a manager."

Interesting comment on Murton buried in there.
