7/4 Other Games

This Brewers game is like the classic game that everyone says is only the Cubs. The Brewers pick up 3 runs before an out is recorded, get 2 on in the first and don't score. They get 2 on with 1 out in the third and don't score. 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the 6th and don't score. Meanwhile, they slowly allow the lead to be given up.

 

Now in the 7th they get a runner on 2nd, and he tries to advance on a groundball to SS and he gets thrown out at third and then get another runner on 2nd that doesn't score.

LOL at the Pirate radio guy who act like the pirates have a chance to win the division.

 

Pretty much said these games against the division leaders are important. You don't want to lose ground to these guys.

 

That's pretty much the sentiment of their broadcast on MLB.TV... I guess they figure if the Brewers can come out of no where and lead the division so can they... Their fans want improvement.

The Brewers are not the juggernaut that many make them out to be. They make a lot of mistakes but their hitting has covered up many of the problems. However, they are exposed when they come up against good pitching (because they aren't fundamentally sound to hang in many low scoring games).

Whats the point of playing a season if you aren't going to at least attempt to win or in their case root for their team to win the division.

 

It's a bad example, but the Yankees are 12 games out. Don't you think they are saying similar things? Yes the Yankees have a bunch more talent then the Pirates, but you gotta think that they are thinking that if Adam LaRoche plays like 2006 LaRoche and Jason Bay reverts back to the one they know and love and Gorzelanny and Snell continue to pitch solidly for the Pirates they can get back into it.

 

I of course don't believe it, but there is logic behind their hope.

Before our respective series, I was thinking that if we could gain a game on them in this 4 day span, I'd be happy. Now if the Pirates can somehow hold on and the Cubs do their jobs tomorrow we are assured of at least a game gained.
