Reading some media out of Cincinnati. They speculate that the Reds could look at Brenly, but only after the season.

If I remember correctly, Brenly signed a 3 year broadcasting deal. This is his third year.

they should concentrate their efforts on assembling a good pitching staff

Bailey, Arroyo, and Harang is a good start. Plus they might get the first pick in the draft next year. Isn't the guy in next years draft a big time pitcher?

For now, most of the the best prospects are hitters (3B Pedro Alvarez of Vanderbilt being the leading candidate for the #1 overall pick).

Oh, either way though there always ends up a pretty good pitcher in every draft. If they find even one of them, they have a good start.

Yeah, there are a few likely top-10 college pitchers there (LHP Brian Matusz, San Diego and RHP Tyson Ross, Cal) and I'm sure at least one HS pitcher will work his way in there.

Reds won't get anywhere without upping payroll, getting a new GM and quitting the practice of changing managers every 18 months or so.

We have a $70 million payroll. It's not great, but it's not awful either.

Narron needed to be fired about a month ago. It's about time. He was by far the worst manaer in baseball.

Yeah, but you have to admit that it's kind of funny that the GM of the Reds has the audacity to fire the manager when he should have fired himself first.

No.

The franchise is in a helluva lot better shape then when he took over at the beginning of spring training last year. As sad as that sounds, it's true. Our system has gone from one of the worst in baseball to resectable. You have to give a GM more then two years to rebuild a franchise.

This team is not 31-51 bad. It's not good, but it's not that bad.

Krivsky hasn't been great and he has made mistakes, but I'm not ready to call for his head yet.

Although I wanted us to hire Mike Hill over Krivsky.

Eh, I think that is speculation at this point. I've heard Girardi, Brenly, LaRussa, Ozzie, and Torrie all mentioned. Our owner wants to make a splash, but whether any of them want to come here remains to be seen.

We also fired Bucky f****** Dent today. He was upset that he didn't get the interm job. From the sounds of it, it wasn't a pretty ending.

They were going to interview Dent on one of the XM shows today -- maybe the Dibble/Kennedy show? -- but I missed it. They also said it was a bad breakup.
